According to the report, unemployment will likely record 5.8% in 2027, 5.6% in 2028, 5.4% in 2029, 5.2% in 2030, 5% in 2031, 4.8% in 2032, and 4.6% in 2033, before hitting 4.4% by 2034.
Fitch also highlighted Egypt’s demographic outlook, noting that the country’s population is set to rise from 114.5 million in 2024 to 132.34 million by 2034—an increase of more than 17.8 million people over 10 years. This represents an average annual growth rate of around 1.46%.
Earlier in August, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) stated that Egypt’s unemployment rate fell to 6.1% in the second quarter of 2025, down by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter.
The size of the labor force, which includes both employed and unemployed individuals, rose to 33.614 million, an increase of 0.5% from the previous quarter.
This was mainly driven by an additional 223,000 employed individuals and a decline of 57,000 unemployed individuals.
