Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, revealed that the European Union (EU) will disburse €1 billion to Egypt next Thursday, representing the second tranche of the €5 billion financial support package for the economy.
During a press conference on Tuesday, she added that the third tranche, worth €1.5 billion, is scheduled for disbursement in mid-2026, with the fourth tranche of €1.5 billion expected by the end of this year.

Egypt received the first tranche of €1 billion in late December 2024.
Last year, representatives from the European Parliament and EU member states reached a preliminary agreement to provide Egypt with a €4 billion financial aid package to support its economy and enhance cooperation within the framework of a strategic partnership.
In a statement, the European Parliament noted, The total value of the aid amounts to €5 billion.
Egypt received €1 billion in the form of a short-term loan at the end of 2024, while the remaining €4 billion is expected to be disbursed in the coming period.
It was also stated that Egypt will have a repayment period of up to 35 years.
