Egypt’s Cabinet approved the licensing of the Suez Canal Authority to proceed with establishing a new joint-stock company under the name “Suez Canal Dredging and Maritime Works Company”, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

The company will be formed in partnership with a private sector firm operating in general supplies and contracting, and will focus on dredging projects, maritime works, and related supply activities.

In a separate decision, the Cabinet approved a contract between the Ministry of Health and Population and Stones, the local agent of global company EMERS, to provide maintenance and technical support for the national ambulance reporting system, with plans to extend the system across operations rooms in all governorates.

The government also authorised the Minister of Communications and Information Technology to sign a number of agreements with international technology and telecommunications companies aimed at accelerating Egypt’s digital transformation agenda and improving access to public services.

The approvals come as part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services, strengthen governance of public systems, and advance the country’s digital transformation strategy, in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and presidential directives.
